The NUI (National University of Ireland) Dr Garret FitzGerald is inviting to provide Postdoctoral Fellowship in Social Sciences. The target of the Fellowship is, on the root of original and independent research, to spread the knowledge of, and provide productive & meaningful contributions to, issues of contemporary societal significance and thereby to initiate and/or put up to the national debate.

Eligibility Criteria:


The applicant must meet the following Criteria:
  • The successful applicants will also ideally have:
a) Experience in policy engagement;
b) Good presentation skills.
  • Full-time, permanent members of staff in the constituent universities, recognized colleges or colleges linked with constituent universities of National University of Ireland, or of other higher education institutions, are not allowed to apply for this Fellowship. 
  • The applicant should have a command in English language so that he/she can continue is studies. 

Method of Applying:


The Applicant should be submitted with the following documentation:
Research Proposal: The applicants are needed to submit a detailed statement (max. 2,000 words) concerning the research they propose to undertake during the tenure of the Fellowship. The Research Proposal should consists:
  1. The proposed topic(s) of the research;
  2. The proposed nature, scope and methodology of the research;
  3. The relevance and importance of the study;
  4. A preliminary literature review;
  5. Potential future developments for the study 
Abstract of Research Proposal: The applicants are needed to submit a short abstract of the Research Proposal (max. 200 words). To note: the abstract will be consists in the invitation to prospective independent subject asking them to review the application.

Curriculum Vitae (CV): To include academic and other accepted achievements to date. Where appropriate, applicant should provide information on previous research grants and scholarly publications.

Certified Academic Transcripts: To be submitted for every degree and diploma

Reports of Two Academic Referees: A specific NUI (National University of Ireland) report form is to be completed by the referee(s) and
(a) returned to the applicant in a sealed envelope or
(b) should be emailed directly. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the references are submitted to NUI by the deadline date.
